These guys roast onsite, so you smell that wonderful aroma as soon as you arrive in the place. Now, you won’t just stumble on to this cafe, as it’s housed in a more industrial lane in South Melbourne, in a converted warehouse with minimal signage. I discovered it through an article in The Age. The owner is a coffee specialist, roasting and selling a wide range of beans, and offering three types of beans used in the delicious coffee they produce – house blend, blend ‘X’, and coffee of the day. If you don’t specify, you’ll get the house by default. I’m a latte drinker, and have never left St Ali disappointed. What surprised me even further is the quality of the food. Everything on the menu is under $10 and is of high quality. I’ve had both lunch and breakfast, and found the quality to exceed that of most cafe’s I’ve visited. Look it up and you will be very pleased.
